I’m Michael, I like learning languages

Hi, I’m Michael. I like studying the Japanese language. In fact, I like studying linguistics and languages in general. I’ve been studying Japanese since the beginning of 2022. So this mean you should stop listening to me because I don’t have many years of Japanese experience, right? Not so fast! I created this website to provide you value and here’s why.

When I was in graduate school taking courses early on for my Ph.D. in computer science (artificial intelligence!), I realized the importance of having a reliable study partner and regularly consulting a TA (teacher assistant) to get an edge and be more efficient with my time. You can think of me as your reliable study partner who studies hard and can teach you more on a relatable level than the professor. You can also think of me as your TA, who has already taken introductory courses and is ready to teach and supplement the material in a more accessible way than the professor.

At this moment, this website is essentially a blog where I write up what I learn and synthesize along my journey of learning the Japanese language. It’s a great way for me to organize my thoughts so I can potentially teach better in the future. Because of that, it’s all free! Please enjoy the content and learn with me as we embark on our learning journey!

If you find my materials helpful and valuable, I would appreciate your positive feedback so I know what I should continue working on for the website. If you find errors, I would also appreciate your critical feedback so I don’t confuse others! Please feel free to reach out to me.
